Steeped with history, the iconic Maida Vale Studios has been at the heart of BBC music since it became home to the BBC Symphony Orchestra in 1934. Built in 1909 as Europe’s largest indoor ice rink, it has been transformed into seven unique recording studios. From The Beatles to Beyoncé, Led Zeppelin to Bowie, the Undertones to Bing Crosby’s farewell show, the epoch-making John Peel Sessions to the Radio 1 Live Lounge: over the past 75 years, Maida Vale has recorded more artists than any other venue.

Responsible for some of the most influential and innovative developments in music technology and electronic music, including the BBC Radio Studios, it is also renowned for its impressive equipment inventory, which includes a wide range of equipment from different eras and technologies – a mix of unique vintage equipment, custom BBC designs and state-of-the-art digital equipment – ​​making it the recording destination of choice for countless musicians.
